Douglas Luiz played in Brazil’s 4-1 win over Uruguay and posted a picture on his Instagram story to mark the occasion. The 23-year-old was an unused substitute in the 0-0 draw with Colombia but came off the bench for Fabinho against Uruguay and saw the game out.

Luiz will now return to Bodymoor Heath ahead of Villa’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but it remains to be seen if he’ll feature. The Brazilian international would be playing two games in as many days if he did squad up with Wolves, so Dean Smith might afford him a result.

The 23-year-old has made six Premier League appearances this season, picking up two assists. He’d be one of the first names on the teamsheet if available, but Smith might have to consider naming Marvelous Nakamba alongside John McGinn instead.

Villa are currently 10th in the table with 10 points from seven games, having won two of their last three ahead of the Wolves clash. The Midlands outfit face a Wolves side boasting three wins from their last four, so Saturday’s meeting could be an even affair.
