Matty Cash posts pictures on IG of ‘first session’ with national team
Matty Cash changed his allegiance to Poland and was called up to the national team earlier in November ahead of their FIFA World Cup European qualifiers with Andorra (November 12) and Hungary (November 15), so he posted pictures on his Instagram story to mark the occasion.
The 24-year-old was born in Slough, Berkshire but had a mother of Polish descent that allowed him to represent Biało-czerwoni. He could start both games for Poland in the coming days and will be excited to get his international career off the mark.
Despite his impressive rise from the Championship, Cash had little chance of playing regular for England due to stiff competition at right-back – Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Reece James (Chelsea), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid), Kyle Walker (Manchester City).
But at Poland, his competition has been Kamil Jozwiak as a makeshift right wing-back, so he stood a better chance of getting opportunities under Paulo Sousa. Villa fans should watch in anticipation as another one of their first-teamers becomes an international player and they’ll no doubt hope he can replicate his impressive club form.
