Fans on social media fume as Aston Villa are linked with ‘overrated’ Kamara
Aston Villa have appointed Steven Gerrard as their new manager and confirmed the arrivals of many of his Rangers backroom staff, so it’s not a surprise that a number of players are also being tipped to make the switch from Ibrox.
One notable name on the list is Glen Kamara who the Daily Record say was being scouted by the Villans before Gerrard’s appointment. The 26-year-old was nearly the subject of a £6m bid from Villa but nothing materialised. That could change in January, however, but fans on social media aren’t too pleased.
Kamara joined Rangers from Dundee in 2019 and has gone on to make 123 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals with seven assists. The Finnish international is a talented midfielder who would improve the squad at many clubs, but fans don’t believe it would be at Villa.
Given Gerrard has inherited a side with John McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Marvelous Nakamba and Morgan Sanson, so he doesn’t need another midfielder right now. Kamara wouldn’t break the bank with a £10m asking price, but Villa don’t have a fervent need to bolster their engine room.
