Aston Villa Women have completed the signing of goalkeeper Emily Ramsey following her departure from Everton.
The 25-year-old arrives with experience across the Women’s Super League and England’s international pathway.
Villa confirmed Ramsey’s arrival through their official club announcement, although the length of her contract has not been disclosed.
The goalkeeper began her senior career with Manchester United before gaining experience during loan spells with Sheffield United, West Ham United and Birmingham City.
Ramsey also spent time with Liverpool before joining Everton permanently in 2022. Injuries restricted her opportunities on Merseyside, but she has already shown her ability at WSL level.
She represented England throughout the youth age groups and received her first senior Lionesses call-up in 2023.
Ramsey welcomes fresh Aston Villa challenge
Ramsey said the opportunity to join Villa arrived at the right stage of her career.
“It felt like the right time for a new challenge,” she said. “I’m excited to play at Villa Park on the right side of the team, get to know the players and see what we can achieve together this season.”
Director of Women’s Football Marisa Ewers highlighted Ramsey’s league experience and desire to continue improving.
Her arrival gives head coach Natalia Arroyo another senior goalkeeping option as Villa continue reshaping their squad before the 2026/27 campaign.
Ramsey follows several summer additions, including Norway midfielder Justine Kielland. As Read Aston Villa reported following Kielland’s arrival, the club have prioritised players with senior European and international experience.
Villa are due to return to Villa Park for their WSL home fixtures next season. Ramsey will now begin pre-season work with her new team-mates as she competes for a starting place.
