Aston Villa have reportedly held talks over a possible Gabriel Sara transfer as Unai Emery continues to reshape his midfield.
Newcastle United have also contacted the Galatasaray player’s representatives, while Napoli are monitoring developments.
Sara could be available for around €30million, which is approximately £25million. No formal offer has been submitted, but Galatasaray are reportedly willing to consider a sale if their valuation is met.
The Brazilian is also open to returning to England after previously spending two seasons with Norwich City.
Gabriel Sara to Aston Villa given European advantage
According to Coming Home Newcastle, citing TEAMtalk, Villa and Newcastle have both spoken with Sara’s camp.
European football could strengthen Villa’s position. Sara wants to continue competing at the highest possible level after helping Galatasaray reach the Champions League knockout stages last season.
Newcastle cannot offer European competition, while Emery’s side can provide that platform. Napoli remain another possible destination if they decide to advance their interest.
Sara produced five goals and four assists across 27 Süper Lig appearances during the 2025/26 campaign. He can play as an advanced midfielder, a number eight or in a deeper role, offering Emery another technically secure option.
Villa have already strengthened their midfield with João Gomes. The Brazilian impressed with his energy and pressing during the recent defeat against Porto, as highlighted in ReadAstonVilla’s player ratings.
A Gabriel Sara to Aston Villa agreement is not yet close. However, contact with his representatives and the potential European advantage leave Villa well placed if they decide to meet Galatasaray’s asking price.
