Aston Villa’s interest in Pedro Vite has not progressed to a formal offer, according to Pumas sporting vice-president Antonio Sancho.
The Ecuador international attracted Premier League interest after impressing at the World Cup, with Villa and Manchester United both linked.
Recent reports in Mexico suggested that Vite could leave Pumas during the summer window. However, the club’s hierarchy have now publicly challenged those claims.
“We’re complete and there are no offers for anyone, at the moment,” Sancho said when discussing Vite and defender Rubén Duarte.

Sport Witness reports that Sancho made the comments after Pumas completed their summer recruitment. The Mexican club have added Sebastián Córdova, Fernando Beltrán, Gerardo Arteaga and Diego Herrera to their squad.
The statement does not completely rule out a future departure. It instead confirms that neither Villa nor United have submitted an offer which Pumas recognise.
Vite remains an attractive option because of his ability to receive possession under pressure and carry the ball through midfield. He can operate centrally or from the left, giving Unai Emery another flexible option following Morgan Rogers’ departure.

Pumas’ comments place the emphasis back on Villa. A Pedro Vite to Aston Villa move will only develop if the club turn their reported interest into direct negotiations and a formal proposal.
