Aston Villa could still secure a permanent Leon Bailey exit this summer after his proposed move to Hull City collapsed, with several Saudi Pro League clubs now reportedly interested in the winger.
Hull had been closing in on the Jamaica international after weeks of negotiations. However, the newly promoted Premier League side are no longer expected to complete the deal.
Football Insider reports that Villa are now considering alternative destinations for Bailey. Several Saudi clubs are said to be monitoring the 28-year-old and could make a move following the collapse of the Hull talks.
Villa have been looking to secure a permanent departure rather than another loan, with Bailey entering the final year of his contract at Villa Park.
Leon Bailey attracts Saudi Pro League interest
Bailey spent the first half of last season on loan at Roma before returning to Villa in January. He went on to make 13 Premier League appearances after his comeback but remains available for a permanent move.
Saudi interest could therefore provide Villa with another opportunity to sell the winger before the transfer window closes.
His departure would also create further space in Unai Emery’s attacking options. Villa are still exploring additions out wide, with ReadAstonVilla reporting on Sunday that a possible return for Jack Grealish has been discussed.
Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and has entered the final 12 months of his current deal. A permanent sale this summer would prevent the club from risking losing him for nothing next year.
Hull had appeared his likeliest destination after making progress in negotiations. That route has now closed, but interest from Saudi Arabia means Villa may not have to abandon plans for a permanent exit.
The next step will depend on whether one of Bailey’s Saudi suitors follows up its interest with an offer acceptable to both Villa and the player.Aston Villa handed new Leon Bailey exit route after deal collapses
