Crystal Palace have reignited their interest in Aston Villa forward Evann Guessand and are exploring another loan move for the 25-year-old.
Palace have made contact with Guessand’s representatives in recent days after previously deciding against bringing him back to Selhurst Park this summer.
Guessand spent the second half of last season on loan with Palace after struggling to establish himself under Unai Emery at Villa.
Crystal Palace return for Evann Guessand
Palace had the option to sign Guessand permanently following his loan spell, but allowed that agreement to expire.
The forward subsequently returned to Villa for pre-season and has featured during the club’s summer schedule.
However, ReadAstonVilla reported last month that another exit remained possible, with Trabzonspor among the clubs considering a loan move.
The latest development now offers Guessand another possible route away from Villa Park.
Reports on Saturday say Palace have reopened discussions over a loan, with contact made with the Ivory Coast international’s representatives.
Guessand joined Villa from Nice in August 2025 in a deal worth an initial £26 million, but managed only two goals during the first half of his debut season.
He then joined Palace in January and initially impressed before injury disrupted his progress.
Aston Villa could reduce attacking options
Any departure would leave Emery with one fewer attacking option ahead of the new Premier League season.
Guessand has been involved throughout pre-season and started Friday’s 2-1 defeat against Bayern Munich.
Villa are still assessing their attacking options after several changes to the squad this summer. ReadAstonVilla highlighted earlier this week that Jonathan Rowe remains one possible target, while Emery also has Tammy Abraham and Brian Madjo available centrally.
A second loan to Palace could provide Guessand with regular Premier League football while also reducing Villa’s wage bill.
No agreement has yet been reached, but Palace’s renewed interest gives Villa another decision to make over a player whose long-term future remains uncertain.
