Aston Villa reach €55m agreement to sign PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye

Aston Villa have reached an agreement in principle with Paris Saint-Germain to sign highly-rated winger Ibrahim Mbaye in a deal worth €55million. The transfer of the 18-year-old is now being finalised as Unai Emery closes in on another major attacking addition.

David Ornstein reports that Villa and PSG have agreed terms for Mbaye, with negotiations now moving towards completion.

The relationship between Villa owner Nassef Sawiris and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is understood to have been important in helping the clubs reach an agreement. David Ornstein’s exclusive Aston Villa update on X

The development comes only hours after Rafael Leão gave Galatasaray an initial green light, dealing Villa a blow in their pursuit of the AC Milan winger.

Villa have responded with an agreement for one of PSG’s brightest young attacking talents.

Ibrahim Mbaye closing in on Aston Villa move

Mbaye is only 18 but already possesses significant senior experience.

The winger joined PSG’s academy aged 10 and became the youngest player ever to start a competitive match for the club when he faced Le Havre aged 16 years, six months and 23 days.

He subsequently made his Champions League debut during the 2025/26 campaign and has also broken into the Senegal senior side. PSG list Mbaye as a right-footed forward capable of operating across the attacking positions.

Villa’s interest is not new.

ReadAstonVilla previously looked at why Ibrahim Mbaye had emerged on Aston Villa’s transfer radar earlier this year when the teenager was being monitored by Premier League clubs.

The situation has now moved considerably further, with Villa reaching an agreement in principle worth €55m.

Aston Villa continue huge attacking rebuild

Mbaye would become another major part of Emery’s dramatically reshaped attack.

Nicolas Jackson has completed his £65m move from Chelsea and has already been registered in time to face Arsenal on Monday.

Alejandro Garnacho has also arrived this summer, while Ollie Watkins is preparing to complete his move to Al-Hilal.

The scale of Villa’s overhaul was explored in our analysis of Aston Villa’s extraordinary summer squad rebuild.

Mbaye fits that direction perfectly.

Rather than simply replacing experienced departures with established players, Villa are committing significant money to younger talents capable of developing under Emery.

At €55m, this is far beyond speculative interest.

Villa now appear close to adding another elite young attacker to a squad that could look almost unrecognisable when the transfer window closes.
