Aston Villa have completed the signing of Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth around €55million as Unai Emery adds one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers to his rebuilt squad.
The 18-year-old has signed a long-term contract at Villa Park after completing his medical over the weekend.
BirminghamLive reports the package is worth approximately £47million, while Sky Sports previously reported that Villa had agreed a figure in that region with PSG.
The completion ends a transfer saga which moved quickly once Villa abandoned their pursuit of Rafael Leao.
Villa had already reached a €55m agreement before Mbaye travelled to England, and ReadAstonVilla subsequently reported that the teenager had completed his medical.
Now the final step has been taken.
Ibrahim Mbaye completes Aston Villa move
Villa’s interest in Mbaye stretches back considerably further than this week.
The club explored a move earlier in the year before returning for the winger during the closing stages of the summer window.
ReadAstonVilla covered Villa reaching their €55m agreement with PSG after Emery’s recruitment team switched focus away from Leao.
Sky Sports subsequently confirmed Villa had reached a verbal agreement for Mbaye after previously identifying him as a target earlier in 2026. Their report valued the deal at around £47m.
Despite his age, Mbaye arrives with substantial senior experience.
The winger came through PSG’s academy after joining the club aged 10 and became the youngest player ever to start a competitive match for PSG when he faced Le Havre in August 2024 at 16 years, six months and 23 days old. PSG’s official player profile details Mbaye’s rapid rise through their academy.
He subsequently became a Ligue 1 champion and Champions League winner with the French giants.
Unai Emery adds another weapon to rebuilt Aston Villa attack
Mbaye becomes another major part of Villa’s dramatic attacking overhaul.
Emery has already added Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea following Ollie Watkins‘ £51m departure to Al-Hilal.
Jackson made his Villa debut against Arsenal on Monday night, while Mbaye could now come into contention for Saturday’s trip to Hull City.
The pair already know each other from international duty with Senegal.
Mbaye was part of the Senegal squad which won the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations, appearing from the bench during their final victory over Morocco alongside Jackson. PSG confirmed Mbaye became an African champion following Senegal’s 1-0 extra-time win.
His arrival also fits Villa’s broader attempt to lower the age profile of Emery’s squad while retaining players capable of contributing immediately.
That has become increasingly important following a summer in which Villa lost six starters from last season’s European final XI.
Mbaye offers pace, direct running and flexibility across the attacking line.
Villa desperately need that new attacking group to click after starting the Premier League season without scoring in either of their opening two matches.
Ibrahim Mbaye could make Aston Villa debut against Hull
Attention will now turn towards when Mbaye makes his first appearance.
Villa travel to newly promoted Hull City on Saturday for a 17:30 BST Premier League kick-off.
There is no guarantee Emery will immediately put the teenager into his starting XI.
Jackson, however, demonstrated against Arsenal that the Villa boss is willing to introduce his major summer additions quickly when he believes they are ready.
Mbaye’s fitness should not be a major concern given he has already been involved with PSG this season.
His signing also leaves Taylor Harwood-Bellis as the other major incoming deal Villa have been working to complete around Deadline Day.
But after agreement, travel and medical stories over recent days, there is finally no qualification required with Mbaye.
