Aston Villa defender Victor Lindelöf supplied an early assist as Sweden beat teammate Matty Cash’s Poland 3–1 in the Nations League on Monday.
Lindelöf set up Benjamin Nygren’s eighth-minute opener, helping Graham Potter’s side secure their second successive victory in Group B4.
Cash threatened at the other end, forcing Viktor Johansson into a first-half save, but Poland conceded twice after the break.
Victor Lindelöf supplies Sweden assist
As detailed in beIN Sports’ match report, Lindelöf flicked on a recycled corner for Nygren to head Sweden ahead.
The contribution followed Sweden’s defensive withdrawals before the Poland game, with Emil Holm and Hjalmar Ekdal unavailable.
Poland responded before half-time. After Johansson denied Cash, Sebastian Szymanski converted Nicola Zalewski’s cross in the 43rd minute.
Yasin Ayari restored Sweden’s lead after 63 minutes, before Viktor Gyökeres added their third nine minutes later.
Cash ends night on losing side
The result leaves Poland with one point from their opening two fixtures, following Friday’s goalless draw with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Sweden have six points after adding this victory to their opening win over Romania.
Lindelöf’s international schedule continues with trips to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 2 October and Romania on 5 October.
For Villa, those remaining fixtures mean further attention on the centre-back’s workload after injuries reduced Potter’s defensive options.
