Aston Villa opponents Sevilla confirm SEVEN absentees as duo miss out

Aston Villa will face a Sevilla side missing seven players on Friday, with Rubén Vargas and Kike Salas left out despite returning to training this week.

The pair remain in rehabilitation and do not feature in Luis García Plaza’s 23-man squad for the Antonio Puerta Trophy.

Sevilla’s official squad announcement, published on Thursday, confirms another five players are unavailable because of international commitments.

Sevilla vs Aston Villa team news: Who is missing?

Robbie Ure, Arouna Sangante, Odysseas Vlachodimos, Giorgi Kochorashvili and Gabriel Suazo are away with their national teams.

Vargas and Salas complete the seven absences identified by Sevilla ahead of Unai Emery’s return.

Their omission follows encouraging training progress earlier this week. Salas resumed normal group work, while Vargas completed part of a session with his teammates.

Neither has progressed to a place in Friday’s matchday squad. Sevilla have not announced a fresh setback for either player.

Who could face Villa?

Marcao, Agoumé, Fofana, Ejuke and Isaac are among García Plaza’s available options, although the starting line-up remains unconfirmed.

The friendly kicks off at 7.30pm BST at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Our Sevilla vs Aston Villa match guide includes the fixture and ticket details.
