Aston Villa are interested in signing Bournemouth defender Tommy Elphick, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail, but the Cherries are unwilling to sell him.
The 28-year-old is apparently a target for the Midlands club, but Eddie Howe is keen to keep his squad together as they prepare for a second season in the top flight, and selling his captain could be seen as a move that destabilises his team.

Although Bournemouth performed well without Elphick for a lot of the season as he was ankle injury, they seem keen to keep him at the club so Villa may be forced to look elsewhere for defensive reinforcements.
Elphick joined the Cherries, then in League One, from Brighton in 2012 after he’d spent a spell on loan at Bognor Regis Town. He has been part of Bournemouth teams that have been promoted twice, so it’s understandable why Howe wants to keep him at the club.
