Middlesbrough target Villa keeper

Premier League new boys Middlesbrough have shown an interest in the Aston Villa shot stopper Brad Guzan according to reports.

The Birmingham Mail report that the American keeper is a target for the Teesiders as they look to strengthen their side ahead of a Premier League return.

Guzan struggled in a Villa shirt last season as he only made 28 appearances and had numerous issues with the fans.

He is not expected to join Roberto Di Matteo’s training camps for a few weeks yet after featuring at the Copa America for the USA.

The 31 year old joined the Villans from Chivas USA in 2008. He was released just before Paul Lambert arrived at Villa Park in 2012 but he made a return straight away and went on to feature consistently until the campaign just gone.

Villa have already been linked with two keepers this summer with Boaz Myhill and Juventus keeper Nicola Leali.
