Di Matteo awaiting Chelsea response on Bamford deal

Roberto Di Matteo is believed to be awaiting a response from his former side regarding his attempts to sign Patrick Bamford on a season-long loan.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Di Matteo is hoping to take the striker, who spent time at Crystal Palace and Norwich last season, to Villa Park as they bid to bounce back from relegation at the first attempt.

The former Chelsea boss has made his contacts at Stamford Bridge aware he is ready to take the striker on loan as soon as they make a decision, with the club open to sending him back out on loan.
