French Ligue 1 side Marseille have triggered a £7.1 million release clause in the contract of Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye according to a report.
Sky Sports say that the former Lille man is keen on a move back to France and is now in talks with the French side who finished 14th last season about a move.
Despite a horrendous campaign for Villa last season, Gueye was near the top of the charts for tackling and interceptions but committed the most fouls out of anyone in the division last term.
He featured on 38 occasions and only missed 7% of the season through injury. It will come as no surprise that Gueye is keen to play at the highest level possible.
Aaron Tshibola has seemingly already been brought in as a like for like replacement for the 26-year-old after he arrived from Reading last week.
