Aston Villa could be subject to a surprise bid from local neighbours West Bromwich Albion for striker Jordan Ayew according to a report.
ESPN report that people close to Jordan Ayew have suggested that the Baggies are looking at a move for the Ghanian forward who was a glimmer of light in a torrid Premier League campaign last season.
Ayew joined the Midlands side from Lorient last summer, and Aston Villa owner Dr Tony Xia has already insisted a few times that the former Marseille man would not be leaving for another side.
Twitter: As I said before, Ayew will stay! No more clauses! https://t.co/qNOQA4vkJE (@Dr_TonyXia)
He was Villa’s top scorer last season with six goals in 30 appearances and the Villa faithful will be hoping to see Ayew help fire the Championship giants back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The move for Ayew comes after West Brom’s supposed move for Diafra Sakho fell through with the player failing a medical.
