According to a recent report from the Daily Mail this afternoon, Scottish side Rangers are closing in on a move for controversial Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott.
The 34-year-old had a pretty abysmal season at the back for Villa in the Premier League last campaign and it’s safe to say that a move has been very much on the cards for a long time now – if someone was to take an interest in the veteran defender.
The ex-England international is now looking set for another step in his career, with Villa telling Lescott that he is free to leave the club, with Rangers circling.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton is keen to strengthen his defence and could turn to the experience and pedigree that Lescott would offer to his squad.
Lescott signed for Villa on deadline day last summer and, after a massively underwhelming tenure with the club, is looking set to leave Villa Park this month.
