It was believed he would be moving to the Glasgow side on a two year deal with Aston Villa paying part of his wage but now seemingly a move to Scotland is off and Lescott will remain a Villans player.
Lescott joined the Championship side last summer from West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer but he often took the brunt of abuse as Villa were relegated. His highlight came when he tweeted a picture of a luxury car after his side’s 6-0 defeat to Liverpool at home.
The centre-back featured on 30 occasions last season as the Villans were relegated to the second tier of English football for the first time in 28 years.
Family reasons are said to be behind Lescott turning down the move.
