According to the Birmingham Mail, Steve Bruce is hoping to strike a deal with Arsenal to sign Carl Jenkinson on loan. Bruce wants the 24-year-old right back to join Villa in January so that he can help with their promotion push.
It is no secret that Villa’s options at right back are fairly limited at the moment; Ritchie De Laet is out for the season with a knee injury, Micah Richards isn’t rated at all by Bruce, and Leandro Bacuna (rightfully so) is seen as more of a midfield player than a defender. As a result, Alan Hutton has been playing at right back for the last 8 games that Bruce has been in charge of pretty much by default. Although, to be fair to Hutton, he has been pretty solid so far.

However, despite Hutton’s solid performances, Bruce understands that in a long and grueling campaign he needs more than just one feasible option at right back and, therefore, he has his sights set on a loan move for Jenkinson.
The young Arsenal defender should be open to such a move as he is desperately trying to kick-start his career after having suffered a serious knee injury at the beginning of the year while on loan at West Ham.
