Midfielder Still Has Future At The Club

According to the Birmingham Mail, Steve Bruce has confirmed that Aston Villa midfielder Aaron Tshibola still has a future at the club.

The midfielder, who was brought to the club by Roberto Di Matteo in the summer on a four-year deal, has only made one appearance ever since Bruce took over a little over two months ago. That appearance came in Bruce’s first game in charge against local rivals Wolves. Since then, he has traveled with the squad, but has regularly failed to make it into the final 18-man-squad. Therefore, due to his severe lack of playing time, he is would consider going out on loan if Villa agree to it.

Earlier on in the week, it was reported that a move away from the club in January looked highly likely. However, this now appears unlikely as Bruce has been rejecting calls from interested clubs:

“Tshibola is supposed to be going here there and everywhere according to his agent” said Bruce. “He has rang around the clubs saying he’s available for loan, so when the managers ring me and say he’s available I said ‘no’.”

Tshibola is rightfully frustrated with his lack of game time, and this frustration must increase every time he sees Ashley Westwood’s name in the matchday squad instead of his. His aim for the New Year will be to force his way into Villa’s matchday squad, and Bruce’s rejection of  interested clubs would suggest that he does indeed have a future at Villa Park.
