Aston Villa Are Looking At Egyptian Striker

According to ESPN FC, Aston Villa, Stoke City and West Brom are all chasing Egyptian striker Basem Morsy.

The 25-year-old is highly rated in Egypt as he has been impressing for Zamalek over the last two years, scoring 48 goals to help them claim the Egyptian Premier League title in his first season and the Egyptian Cup for the past 2 years.

He has also impressed for his country, having scored 7 goals in 10 appearances since making his debut in 2014. However, he has not been included in Egypt’s squad for the AFCON, and that is great news for his suitors who want to bring him to Europe during the January transfer window.

Premier league duo Stoke and West Brom have been keeping an eye on Morsy as they are looking to boost their attacking options – they have both supposedly made enquiries to Zamalek about him. Villa are also looking for reinforcements after having sold Gestede to Middlesbrough earlier this month – it is believed that they are looking at Morsy as an ideal replacement.

Zamalek want to keep hold of him, but he is out of contract in the summer so they could be forced to let him go rather than run the risk of him running down his contract.
