Rhodes edges closer to Boro exit as they plan replacement

Aston Villa target, Jordan Rhodes is edging nearer to his Middlesbrough exit as they plan a move for Patrick Bamford.

According to the Birmingham Mail, Middlesbrough were only going to allow Rhodes to leave should they find a replacement.

They’re hoping to conclude a deal that will see Bamford return to the Riverside are being recalled from his loan spell at Burnley by parent club Chelsea.

Aitor Karanka’s side are thought to be looking for closer to £10 million for Rhodes, who has failed to find the back of the net in six appearances this season.

The Premier League outfit signed Rudy Gestede from Aston Villa earlier in the transfer window and Rhodes may eventually end up going in the other direction.

The striker is known for his goals in the Championship for Blackburn Rovers, where he scored 83 times in the league during his four-year spell at the club.
