Villa Looking at QPR Defender

Villa Looking at QPR Defender

According to reports, Aston Villa are interested in signing QPR defender Darnell Furlong.

Furlong has come through the ranks at QPR, and he is highly thought of at the club. He made his debut for the club in the Premier League during the 2014/15 season, after impressing in the QPR’s U21s side. He went on to make 2 more appearance for the first-team that season.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on-loan at Swindon Town, but he is now back at the London-based club. Furlong’s spell at Swindon was very successful – he scored 2 goals and provided 5 assists in 25 appearances and Holloway called him back to the club not long after he took over from Hasslebaink.

However, he has made one appearance since returning to QPR, and, since his contract runs out in the summer, there are a number of clubs keeping an eye on him.

Villa are very light at right back at the moment and they are supposedly interested in bringing Furlong to the club. However, they will face stiff competition from Reading and Preston.
