According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa have agreed to let Aaron Tshibola join Championship rivals Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season.
The youngster arrived at Villa Park in the summer as one of Roberto Di Matteo’s many transfers, but after having initially impressed for his new club, he has, for some reason or another, fallen out of favour since Steve Bruce took over in October.
Tshibola started Bruce’s first game in charge against Wolves, but he failed to impress Bruce and, as a result, he did not feature again until the match against Cardiff City at the beginning of the year.
Now, as Bruce has brought in three new midfielders this January in the shape of Henri Lansbury, Birkir Bjarnason and Conor Hourihane, who will form the base of a totally revamped (and much more impressive looking) Villa engine room, it is even more unlikely that Tshibola would be able to get any game time at Villa Park.
Therefore, this is a move that will suit both Tshibola and Nottingham Forest. Not only will it give Tshibola the chance to get some much needed playing time, but he will also provide great protection for Nottingham Forest’s leaky defence – the second leakiest in the league.
