Welsh Full-Back Due for Medical at Villa Park

According to reports, Swansea City full-back Neil Taylor is expected to undergo a medical on Monday evening at Villa Park.

The player will make the switch to the Midlands as part of a player-plus-cash deal; Villa have accepted Swansea’s offer of Neil Taylor plus £5 million in exchange for striker Jordan Ayew.

Taylor, who has made over 150 appearances for the Welsh side since joining in 2010, has slipped down the pecking order at The Liberty Stadium ever since the recent arrival of Swedish international Martin Olsson from Norwich.

Ever since he took over at Villa, Steve Bruce has been on the hunt for a decent left-back who could give Amavi some competition, and he feels that cash plus Taylor for Ayew is too good a deal to turn down – especially when it is clear that Ayew does not really want to be playing in the Championship.

Taylor is a fully-fledged Welsh international and was part of the squad that made history by reaching the semi-finals of last year’s European Championship.
