According to the Birmingham Mail, reports coming out of Denmark are suggesting that Aston Villa will consider a move for ex-Arsenal man Nicklas Bendtner should they fail to acquire the services of either Scott Hogan or Jordan Rhodes.
Nottingham Forest are keen to offload the striker who the signed last summer, and are looking for anyone who is interested – and, bizarrely, Villa’s name has cropped up in reports in Denmark linking Steve Bruce to a reunion with his former charge.
Bruce has already signed the Danish international twice in his managerial career – on loan at Birmingham City in 2006 and another loan spell and Sunderland in 2010. However, we’d be very very surprised if Bruce was to make it a hat-trick.
The striker has scored only 2 goals in 14 appearances for Nottingham Forest, and has found it hard to adjust to life in the Championship. To be honest, the fact that Forest are trying to get rid of him after just over half a season says a lot about his ability (or lack of).
I think we can safely assume that this deal is definitely not going to happen.
