Villa on Course to Beat Premier League Sides to Striker

According to the Daily Star, Aston Villa are on course to beat Premier League sides West Ham and Crystal Palace to Brentford’s goal-machine Scott Hogan.

West Ham, who are light up front at the moment, due to Ayew taking part in the AFCON and Sakho being out injured, were very keen on bringing the 24-year-old to the London Stadium this month. However, Slaven Bilic has decided not to pursue a move for the talented striker.

Hogan, who is out of contract in the summer, is also a target for Crystal Palace.

However, Sky Sports are now claiming that Aston Villa are favourites to sign Hogan, who has scored 14 goals in 25 appearances this season, before tonight’s 11pm deadline. Bruce is looking to bolster his attacking options after having sold Gestede to Middlesbrough and banished McCormack to training with the development squad due to his poor discipline.

While Villa are favourites to sign the ex-Rochdale striker, the deal may be held up by the fact that he has already stated that he only wants to go a Premier League side.
