Sky Sports have confirmed that Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood has passed his medical ahead of his proposed move to Premier League outfit Burnley.
Villa are believed to have accepted Burnley’s bid of £5 million for the midfielder, who is set to end his 4 1/2 year stay at the club.
The former Crewe Alexandra player has made over 150 appearances for the Midlands club since his arrival in 2012, but, despite this, he has failed to win over a large percentage of Aston Villa supporters who believe that he adds nothing to the side.
Sean Dyche is a big admirer of Westwood, and had tried to bring him to Turf Moor last summer, but the newly promoted club were not able to afford his wages. Now that they are sitting comfortably above relegation, they seem to be willing to take the risk.
Westwood has been a regular under Steve Bruce, but with the addition of 3 midfielders (who are definitely better than Westwood), it makes sense for both parties to go their separate ways.
