Defensive midfielder Carlos Sanchez, who is currently on loan at Fiorentina from Aston Villa, says he wants to make his move to Italy permanent in the summer.
Following Villa’s relegation to the Championship, the 31-year-old was one of the players who was allowed to leave and he made a switch to Serie A.
The deal reportedly earned Villa a £260,000 loan fee and there was apparently a clause in the contract which stated that if Sanchez played in 50% of Fiorentina’s games, they’d be obligated to purchase him for £2.6 million.
It looks like he’ll easily hit that mark by the end of the season and as such, his career at Villa looks to be over.
The player himself admitted to Corriere Fiorentino that he wants to stay in Florence for a long time, but did acknowledge that there is a chance he could return to Villa if he doesn’t hit the 50% threshold.
