According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, former Aston Villa flop Yacouba Sylla could soon be making a return to the Premier League, more than three years after his last appearance in the top flight of English football.
The Mali international has spent the season on loan at Montpellier from Rennes, making 20 appearances, but a permanent move to the Ligue 1 side isn’t thought to be a guarantee, as he currently has offers from La Liga side Malaga and Belgian side FC Bruges.
However, aside from those two clubs, Premier League new boys Brighton Hove and Albion are also interested in acquiring his signature.
Paul Lambert signed the 26-year-old midfielder for Villa back in 2013, but he only made 24 appearances in 18 months before he was sent out on loan to Turkish side Erciyesspor in 2014. The following summer he left, and joined current parent side Rennes.
