‘Many’ clubs interested in signing Carles Gil

You don’t need to be a genius to realise that Carles Gil’s days on the books at Aston Villa are numbered.

The diminutive Spaniard arrived at Villa Park in January 2015 in a £3.6m deal from Valencia but was unable to settle, scoring just three goals and providing three assists in 34 appearances for the club over the next 18 months until Villa’s relegation to the Championship.

Gil was allowed to leave on loan last summer, with La Liga side Deportivo willing to take him for the season where he’s enjoyed a solid campaign, netting just once and adding four assists in 24 appearances.

La Voz de Galicia report that Gil is wanted by Deportivo on a permanent basis, but are unwilling to meet Villa’s €5m valuation of the 24-year-old and would prefer a deal nearer €1.5m.

The same report goes on to state that there are ‘many’ clubs more than willing to meet Villa’s asking price for Gil, putting Deportivo in a bit of a tough spot if they wish to re-sign him.

Villa appear to have a number of suitors for the attacking midfielder, whose sale will go a long way to boosting Steve Bruce’s transfer budget this summer.
