According to a report in the Daily Mail, Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi is wanted by Serie A side Sampdoria.
The France U21 international is surplus to requirements at Villa Park as Steve Bruce is looking to sell players in order to raise funds to strengthen other positions in his squad.
Amavi joined Villa for £9 million back in 2015, but his first season at the club was curtailed early on after he suffered a cruciate ligament injury while on international duty. Last season, he managed to make 36 appearances for Villa, but, if we’re being perfectly honest, he put in poor performance after poor performance and received his fair share of criticism. It’s now believed that he is also looking for a fresh start elsewhere.
Earlier this year, Tony Xia claimed that he had rejected a £25 million bid for the young Frenchman from an unknown Chinese club. Atletico Madrid, Napoli, and Marseille have also been interested in acquiring his signature.
Villa will hope to get as close to £9 million as they can, but Sampdoria may be looking for an initial loan move with the option to buy later on.
