Villa boss Steve Bruce faces competition for Sam Johnstone, with strong suggestions Man United will allow the goalkeeper to leave permanently, according to the Express and Star.
Johnstone is currently fourth choice keeper at Old Trafford behind David de Gea, Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira with Jose Mourinho happy to let Johnstone go, but only for £5 million.
Bruce has already enquired to United about Johnstone’s availability, who impressed after joining Villa on loan in January for the second half of the season, making 23 appearances during that time.
With Bruce all but guaranteeing Johnstone the chance for regular first team football, it is claimed up to seven clubs are interested in the keeper, with Leicester and relegated Sunderland the latest to show an interest in the 24-year-old.
Bruce is keen to strengthen his squad with Premier League quality as he prepares for his first full season in charge at the club.
