According to an article in the Burton Mail, Burton Albion midfielder Jackson Irvine is wanted by a host of Championship clubs this summer.
It is understood that Aston Villa, Woverhampton Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday, Fulham, and Derby County are all after the Australian’s signature.
Albion’s star man, who was the Brewer’s top scorer last season with 10 goals, is currently away on international duty with Australia ahead of their World Cup Qualifier against Saudi Arabia on Thursday. He will then be part of the squad that will entertain Brazil in a friendly on the 13th June.
However, his international duty won’t stop there as he will the be off to the Confederations Cup in Russia, where Australia will face Germany, Chile, and Cameroon.
Irvine has repeatedly said that he will only listen to offers that his representatives feel are beneficial for him, and he has made it clear that money is not a deal-breaker in any negotiations. The former Celtic and Ross County man became the Brewer’s most expensive signing when he signed for £250k in July last year.
Irvine, who has said that he is happy on his current deal at Albion, has declared that he will wait until after the Confederation Cup has finished before making any decisions on his future.
