Aston Villa midfielder Jordan Veretout has completed a move to Serie A side Fiorentina.
The Frenchman signed for Villa from Nantes for £7 million pounds in 2015, but he had a torrid time with the Birmingham-based club, making just 29 appearances over the course of two years. Veretout spent the whole of last season on loan with St. Etienne, where he scored 5 goals in 43 appearances.
The Ligue 1 side were showing interest in acquiring Veretout’s services permanently, but the Viola swooped in before they had the chance of completing a deal.
Veretout has signed a 4-year deal with the team from Florence, and he will now be reunited with Carlos Sanchez, with whom he played alongside during Villa’s catastrophic 2015/16 Premier League campaign. The Colombian completed his own permanent move earlier in the summer for £2.55 million.
It is believed that Villa will receive around £6.25 million plus add-ons for the midfielder, meaning that they will at least get back most, if not all, of what they paid for him.
