Aston Villa have reportedly rejected a £1.5 million bid from Reading for winger Leandro Bacuna.
Villa’s rejection of the bid has seen The Royals end their pursuit of the 25-year-old as they are not willing to pay any more for his services.
The Curacao international, who signed from Dutch side Groningen in 2013, still has 3 years left on the five-year contract that he penned back in 2015, and Bruce clearly believes that he is worth more than what Reading were willing to pay.
Bacuna made 31 appearances for Villa last season, but it remains to be seen how much of a role he will play this coming season, as new signing Ahmed Elmohamady, along with a number of other players, can play in a similar role to him.
However, the fact that they turned down £1.5 million for him when they have plenty of cover in his main positions shows that he must still be firmly in Bruce’s plans. Perhaps the fact that he can also play on either the left flank or in the center of the park has played to his advantage.
