According to a report in the Telegraph, Steve Bruce hopes to sign Leonardo Ulloa and Daniel Amartey from Leicester City this transfer window.
Bruce is trying his best to persuade the former champions to send these two players out on loan as he attempts to strengthen his team for their promotion push.
Villa will have a lean transfer window as they are severely restricted by Financial Fair Play Rules, but they still have enough of a budget to sign a couple of players on loan for the rest of the season, and the Leicester pair are his top targets.
Ulloa has been struggling to get game time this season for the Foxes, despite having signed a new contract last summer. Villa, due to a number of injuries, are in desperate need for a temporary striker of Ulloa’s quality, but Leicester would prefer to make a deal that allows the Argentinian to join permanently in the summer.
Amartey is attracting Bruce’s attention due to his ability to play in defence or in the midfield.
When asked about potential signings, Bruce said:
“There’s nothing yet, but one or two are bubbling. I think it will be more towards the end of January. It’s difficult to loan players right now, but two or three weeks changes things when players move around. We have to be patient, but there are one or two bubbling along.”
