Isaac Hayden linked with Villa switch

Aston Villa are in the race to sign Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden, according to a report from the Mirror

The Magpies star was keen to leave St James’ Park during the summer transfer window and remains interested in exiting the club in January.

Hayden has been a key player for Newcastle over recent seasons and has recently been reintegrated into Rafa Benitez’s plans for the first team following a difficult start to the campaign.

It is reported by the Mirror, though, that the midfielder is in demand this month and Championship duo Aston Villa and West Brom are both eyeing respective swoops.

Dean Smith is believed to be on the lookout for new recruits in the transfer window as he looks to push for a spot in the top six in the second half of the season.

West Brom recently made a loan move to sign Hayden from Newcastle but were said to have been rejected in their initial advances.
