Aston Villa have confirmed that their young striker Rushian Hepburn-Murphy has been loaned out to League 2 side Cambridge.

The talented 20-year-old was expected to go out on loan this month, but it is quite surprising that he has been sent to a a team who are struggling in the 4th tier of English football and could find themselves relegated come the end of the season.

The England U20 international has made 7 appearances for Villa this season, but they were all under Steve Bruce. In total, he has made 17 appearances for the senior side across all competitions.

Colin Calderwood, a former Villa player and Bruce’s assistant manager when he was in charge at Villa Park, is now the manager at Cambridge, so he will clearly know a thing or two about the potential that the youngster possesses.

Hepburn-Murphy will get the regular football that he needs and, as an added bonus, he should score goals for fun in League 2.
