Fans on social media want Aston Villa to sign James Ward-Prowse

James Ward-Prowse was the one that got away from Aston Villa this summer and Luke Hatfield of the Express and Star (h/t Give Me Sport) the Midlands outfit may well return for him at the end of the season.

Villa were very busy in the transfer market strengthening their defence with Axel Tuanzebe and Ashley Young while adding to their attack with Emiliano Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings, but they needed a creative midfielder.

Moves for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks, Fulham’s André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe and RC Lens’ Cheick Doucouré didn’t pan out, but Villa aren’t giving up on Ward-Prowse.

Fans on social media rate the 26-year-old highly and would love to see him at Villa Park. Whether a deal can be agreed remains to be seen, however, as the England international won’t come cheap.

Southampton wanted £50m for Ward-Prowse before the summer transfer window shut that Villa were unwilling to match. He’s since signed a long-term deal at St Mary’s too, so the Midlands club might have missed the boat on this one.
