Kamilla Melgård Joins Aston Villa Women From Madrid CFF

Aston Villa Women have signed Norwegian midfielder Kamilla Melgård from Madrid CFF as Natalia Arroyo continues to reshape her squad before the new WSL season.

The 20-year-old arrives from Spain after building senior experience in Liga F and progressing through Norway’s youth international pathway.

Aston Villa Women confirmed Melgård’s signing on their official X account, describing her as one of Norway’s brightest young talents. FAWSL Full-Time also reported that the move is subject to visa approval after her spell with Madrid CFF.

The deal adds another technical midfield option to a Villa squad that needed fresh legs after a demanding Women’s Super League campaign.

Natalia Arroyo Adds A Young Midfield Option

Melgård arrives with useful senior football behind her, not just potential. She spent the last two years with Madrid CFF, having previously developed at Lyn in Norway.

AS described Melgård as one of Madrid CFF’s early-season revelations after her move from Lyn, highlighting her speed, attacking mobility and strong start in Spain. That profile fits the kind of midfield depth Arroyo will want around her more established players.

Villa finished ninth in the 2025/26 WSL table, according to the league’s official club profile, but the squad’s late-season improvement under Arroyo showed the direction of travel. The next step is adding enough athletic and technical quality to make that progress more sustainable.

Melgård is not a headline signing built around instant pressure. She is a development play with first-team potential.

With players such as Miri Taylor already in the group, Villa now have another young midfielder to mould through pre-season. The logic is clear enough: lower the age curve, add technical security and give Arroyo more tactical flexibility before the league campaign begins.
