Kosta Nedeljkovic is back on Aston Villa’s books after his RB Leipzig loan, giving Unai Emery another right-back decision before pre-season accelerates.
RotoWire reported on July 2 that Nedeljkovic will return to Villa following the end of his spell in Germany.
Villa confirmed last summer that the Serbian full-back had rejoined Leipzig on a season-long loan, after he spent part of the previous campaign with the Bundesliga club.
Emery Gets Another Right-Back Option
Nedeljkovic is still a development player, but he gives Emery something different on the right side of defence.
He has pace, size and the willingness to get forward. Villa have already seen flashes of that in senior football, even if his Leipzig spell did not turn into the regular platform he needed.
Read Aston Villa had already tracked the likelihood of a summer return, with Matty Cash and Andres Garcia both part of the right-back picture.
Now Villa need a clean pre-season call. If Emery wants extra depth without going back into the market, Nedeljkovic’s minutes in the next few weeks will carry weight.
A strong summer could move him closer to the squad. Another loan may still make more sense if Villa want him playing every week.
Either way, the timing helps. Nedeljkovic is back early enough for Villa to control the decision, rather than scrambling late in the window.
