Aston Villa defender Yeimar Mosquera is reportedly close to joining Portuguese side Vitória SC.
Portuguese newspaper Record claims the 21-year-old centre-back is set to move to Guimarães after emerging as a defensive target for the Primeira Liga club.
The report does not yet make clear whether the agreement will be a permanent transfer or a season-long loan.
Mosquera remains under contract at Villa Park until 2028 and has spent most of his time with the club’s development side.
Record’s latest Vitória SC update states that the club are close to finalising Mosquera’s arrival, with further details expected once the agreement is completed.
Villa secure next stage of Mosquera development
Mosquera joined Aston Villa from Colombian side Orsomarso in August 2024 before immediately leaving on loan for Real Unión.
Villa recalled him from Spain in January 2025 and have since continued his development through Premier League 2 football and occasional first-team involvement.
The left-footed defender recorded one goal and two assists during the 2025/26 Premier League 2 campaign. He also trained with Unai Emery’s senior squad and featured in friendly matches.
As Read Aston Villa reported last month, Villa were expected to sanction another loan rather than sell Mosquera while interest grew from Independiente and other clubs.
A move to Vitória would provide regular senior football in a competitive European league.
The Portuguese club also have close ownership links with Villa through V Sports, which could make the move easier to complete and allow Villa to monitor Mosquera’s progress closely.
Official confirmation is now awaited, along with clarity over whether Vitória have agreed a loan or permanent deal.
