Aston Villa have confirmed a seven-match pre-season schedule as Unai Emery prepares his squad for another demanding campaign.
Villa will begin their public preparations against Walsall at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium on Tuesday, 21 July.
Emery’s side will then travel to Portugal to face Porto four days later before meeting Real Sociedad at Walsall on 28 July.
The squad will continue its preparations in Asia, with matches against Indonesia All-Stars in Jakarta and BG Pathum United in Thailand.
Villa will then face Bayern Munich in Hong Kong on 7 August before returning to Europe for the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain in Salzburg.
Their final friendly is scheduled against Borussia Mönchengladbach at Borussia-Park on 15 August.
Sky Sports lists Villa’s full summer schedule, including the fixtures against Porto, Real Sociedad and Bayern.
Emery prepares Villa for Brighton opener
Pre-season training is already under way at Bodymoor Heath, although several senior players remain away following their World Cup involvement.
As Read Aston Villa reported, Tyrone Mings, Matty Cash, Leon Bailey and Emi Buendía were among the players who returned earlier this week.
Emery will use the schedule to assess fitness levels and integrate new arrivals before the competitive campaign begins.
The Bayern and PSG fixtures should provide the strongest indications of Villa’s readiness, while the earlier matches offer opportunities to involve academy players.
Villa will open their Premier League season away to Brighton on Sunday, 23 August, with kick-off scheduled for 2pm.
The club’s preparations cover four countries and include opponents from five different leagues. Emery will hope the varied programme leaves Villa ready for their league opener and another season of European football.
