Aston Villa have six fixtures remaining during a demanding August as Unai Emery prepares his squad for the start of competitive football.
The Aston Villa August fixtures include meetings with Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal before the month comes to an end.
Villa began August with a 3-1 victory over Indonesia All Stars in Jakarta and will now continue their Asian tour against BG Pathum United on Tuesday.
A much tougher test follows three days later when Emery’s side face Bayern Munich in Hong Kong. Villa then return to Europe ahead of their first competitive fixture of the campaign.
Aston Villa August fixtures include PSG and Arsenal tests
Paris Saint-Germain await in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday 12 August. Villa earned their place after winning the Europa League, while PSG arrive as Champions League holders.
UEFA has confirmed the game will take place at Stadion Salzburg in Austria. It gives Emery’s new-look squad an early opportunity to compete for silverware before the Premier League begins.
Villa then travel to Borussia Mönchengladbach on 15 August for their final pre-season friendly.
After an eight-day break, the Premier League campaign begins away at Brighton on Sunday 23 August. Villa have won four of their last five league visits to the Amex Stadium.
The Aston Villa August fixtures then conclude with a major test at Villa Park. Reigning champions Arsenal visit on Monday 31 August, with the game now scheduled for an 8pm kick-off after being selected for television.
Villa therefore have little room for a slow start. Emery has already spoken about beginning a “new chapter” this season, and August will provide an immediate indication of how quickly his reshaped squad has settled.
