Aston Villa ready £25m move for Matty Cash rival

Aston Villa are preparing to step up their pursuit of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with an offer for the West Ham United defender reportedly expected this week.

Villa have already held discussions over the 28-year-old as Unai Emery looks to strengthen at right-back before the transfer window closes. West Ham are understood to value Wan-Bissaka at around £25million.

The latest development suggests that interest could soon turn into something more concrete.

An update attributed to Mail Sport reporter Tom Collomosse says Villa are expected to make an offer for Wan-Bissaka this week.

Aston Villa ready Aaron Wan-Bissaka move

Wan-Bissaka has emerged as one of Villa’s leading options as Emery searches for greater competition for Matty Cash.

The former Manchester United defender has significant Premier League experience and joined West Ham for £15m in 2024. The Hammers are now believed to want approximately £25m following their relegation to the Championship.

Villa’s interest is particularly significant alongside their move for Matteo Ruggeri.

Read Aston Villa explored on Monday how signing both Ruggeri and Wan-Bissaka could point towards a major tactical change, rather than simply adding depth to Emery’s defence.

Ruggeri is set to strengthen the left side following Lucas Digne’s departure, while Wan-Bissaka would dramatically increase the competition facing Cash on the opposite flank.

Kosta Nedeljkovic is also available at right-back, although the Serbian has attracted interest elsewhere following his loan spell away from Villa Park.

Nothing has yet been agreed between Villa and West Ham.

But if the expected offer arrives this week, another of Emery’s defensive transfer priorities could quickly move towards a decisive stage.
