Aston Villa handed Barcelona date as Champions League fixtures confirmed

Aston Villa’s 2026/27 Champions League fixture schedule has been confirmed, with Unai Emery’s side handed a November trip to Barcelona and major Villa Park meetings with Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund.

Villa begin their league-phase campaign away at Club Brugge on Tuesday 8 September, before consecutive home games against Fenerbahçe and Viking in October.

Their first blockbuster European trip follows on 3 November, when Emery takes his rebuilt squad to Barcelona.

Sky Sports has confirmed the complete Champions League schedule, including dates and kick-off times.

BirminghamLive has also published Villa’s confirmed Champions League dates, with the schedule handing supporters four very different European away trips.

The Barcelona and Galatasaray fixtures immediately stand out, but Villa’s home programme is also loaded with major occasions.

PSG and Dortmund head to Villa Park

Paris Saint-Germain visit Villa Park on 8 December, adding another storyline to Villa’s growing relationship with the French champions.

Villa have already agreed a major deal with PSG for Ibrahim Mbaye, with the winger progressing towards his move to Birmingham. Our latest update covers the developing PSG and Aston Villa Ibrahim Mbaye transfer.

Borussia Dortmund then travel to the Midlands on 19 January for Villa’s final home fixture of the league phase.

Those matches arrive during a season in which Emery is integrating an unusually large number of new players.

The scale of that challenge is illustrated by our analysis showing Aston Villa’s squad retention has fallen to a Premier League-low 65.6%.

Villa therefore have to balance one of the most extensive squad rebuilds in the division with eight Champions League fixtures and their domestic programme.

Villa discover route towards Champions League knockouts

The top eight clubs in the league-phase standings advance directly to the last 16.

Teams finishing from ninth to 24th enter the knockout play-offs, while those below 24th are eliminated.

That places extra importance on Villa’s run of home fixtures.

Fenerbahçe and Viking visit in successive European rounds before the Barcelona trip, while PSG and Dortmund both come to Villa Park during the second half of the campaign.

Villa then finish away at Slavia Prague on 27 January, by which point Emery will hope his side have already put themselves firmly in contention for the knockout rounds.
