Ibrahim Mbaye completes Aston Villa medical as €55m signing nears

Ibrahim Mbaye has completed his Aston Villa medical as the Paris Saint-Germain winger moves closer to completing a €55million transfer to Villa Park.

The 18-year-old arrived in Birmingham on Saturday after giving Villa his approval to the move, with the remaining formalities now being finalised.

Benjamin Quarez of Le Parisien reported that Mbaye arrived in Birmingham during the afternoon before completing his medical. The update has also been relayed by DaveOCKOP.

It is the clearest indication yet that Unai Emery is on the verge of adding another major attacking signing before the transfer deadline.

Ibrahim Mbaye moves closer to Aston Villa signing

Villa had already reached an agreement with PSG worth around €55m, with Sky Sports reporting the English club will pay approximately £47m for Mbaye.

The Senegal international subsequently gave his approval to the move and travelled to England.

ReadAstonVilla reported earlier on Saturday that Mbaye had given Villa the green light ahead of his medical.

Le Parisien previously reported that Mbaye is expected to sign a five-year contract with an option for a sixth season once the remaining formalities are completed.

His successful medical now leaves the transfer entering its final stage.

Aston Villa await final Mbaye formalities

Mbaye predominantly operates from the right wing and made 24 Ligue 1 appearances for PSG last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

His arrival would continue an extraordinary overhaul of Emery’s attacking options.

Nicolas Jackson has already completed his club-record move from Chelsea, while Villa turned to Mbaye after missing out on Rafael Leão.

The original club-to-club breakthrough was covered in our €55m Ibrahim Mbaye agreement story.

Sky Sports says Mbaye has been a long-term Villa target and was also explored by Liverpool earlier in the summer.

With the medical now complete, attention turns to the signing of contracts and an official Aston Villa announcement.
