Leon Bailey is expected to leave Aston Villa before the transfer window closes, with Sevilla, Hull City and Al Diriyah all exploring moves for the Jamaica international. Negotiations are now ongoing as Villa attempt to resolve the winger’s future before Tuesday’s deadline.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Bailey is expected to leave Villa before the end of the window, with the three interested clubs asking about the conditions required to complete a deal.
It represents significant progress in a transfer saga which has already produced several twists this summer.
Leon Bailey exit talks accelerate at Aston Villa
Hull have been trying to sign Bailey for several weeks.
The 29-year-old previously reached the stage where he was expected to undergo a Hull City medical, only for the proposed transfer to collapse again.
Hull manager Sergej Jakirović subsequently described the situation as “a bit of a mess”, with ReadAstonVilla covering the breakdown in negotiations earlier this month.
Ajax then emerged as another option, with the Dutch club holding talks over the conditions of a Bailey transfer.
The picture has now changed again.
Sevilla and Saudi Arabian side Al Diriyah have joined Hull in exploring the deal, while Romano says negotiations are ongoing.
Bailey has entered the final year of his Villa contract and has fallen down Unai Emery’s attacking pecking order.
Villa have continued reshaping that area of the squad, with Nicolas Jackson signed permanently and Ibrahim Mbaye closing in on a €55m move from PSG.
A Bailey departure before the deadline now appears increasingly likely, although there is not yet an agreement with any of the three interested clubs.
